OUTLAST
Entwicklung eines operationellen, multisektoralen, globalen Vorhersagesystems für Dürregefahren

- Contact: Harald Kunstmann
- Duration: 10/2022 bis 09/2025
- Funding: PTKA & BMBF
The Project aims to develop a Drought Hazard Monitor, driven by the input of bias-corrected seasonal forecasts. KIT is responsible for the Bias Correction of the forecasts and their provision to the partner universities Frankfurt and Göttingen. Together, the system will cover a wide variety of Drought Hazard Indicators, ranging from meteorological to hydrological and agricultural indicators, ranging seven months into the future. The system will be of global spatial scale and in near-real time, creating high computational demands that have to be optimized in several ways. In partnership with the WMO we're working on displaying the finished forecast on an open website (https://wmohydrosos.ceh.ac.uk/casestudies/outlast).
