Dr. Tanja C. Schober

Dr. Tanja C. Schober (née Portele) is a meteorologist and hydrologist focused on the co-production of climate services. Her research aims to provide actionable decision support using sub-seasonal to seasonal forecasts to strengthen resilience and reduce the impacts of climate change. She earned her PhD in Climate and Environmental Sciences with highest honors from the University of Augsburg, Germany.
At KIT/IMK-IFU, Dr. Schober is actively engaged in international research collaborations, capacity-building efforts, and the supervision of early-career researchers. She has organized multiple international workshops and scientific events. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges atmospheric science, hydrology, economics and stakeholder engagement to support climate adaptation in vulnerable regions.
